Zahraa and Bellydance Kizmet re-started in Melbourne in 1995, after many years dancing and teaching in NZ.
Zahraa has travelled many, many times to Egypt and around the world for dance and ongoing learning with leading dancers and teachers, as well as teaching and performing.
With a focus on Egyptian Oriental style- the techniques, history, musicality, rhythms, Egyptian traditional styles and the use of props such as veils, sagat, sword, Isis wings, canes, shamadan & fan veils.
Zahraa also has a passion for the folkloric styles from the MENAHT- Moroccan, Algerian, Tunisian, Turkish Karsilama and Roman, as well as different Persian styles, Khaliji, and the more modern ATS fusion style.
This ongoing passion for ME dance involves more than just dancing but the special aspects of its history, such dance in Pharaonic times and how the dance has evolved into what we know today as Raqs Sharqi.
