"If you say it you can play it" Darbuka/Drum and Middle Eastern Rhythms
Friday 12.30pm-2.30pm
In the first hour we will look at 6 of the most popular rhythms, presenting the basic skeleton and some simple fills. The second hour we will practice stringing some of these together going back and forth and visit the mechanisms that Soul Star Tribe use to facilitate the changing and the stopping of rhythms. Loan drums available on request, please bring your own if you can.

I have been drumming (and dancing) with Soul Star Tribe for some years now. My teacher was Master percussionist Doug Brush who teaches in the correct, classical style of darbuka playing.
I have since taught myself to play the didgeridoo and play both instruments at Festivals and markets and multicultural events. My approach to teaching is fairly relaxed and not overly technical.
