Show & Hafla Performance Application Form
We invite you to send us your performance applications for the 2024 Festival Show & Hafla in Christchurch New Zealand, to be held on 26 and 27 April 2024.
The 2024 Festival Hafla is due to be held on Friday 26 April 2024 from 7pm until late.
The 2024 Festival Show is due to be held on Saturday 27 April 2024 from 7pm for approximately 2 hours.
The Show rehearsal is due to be held on Saturday afternoon 27 April 2024 from 3pm (exact rehearsal time TBA).
MEDANZ is currently offering Festival Passes to fundraise $6000 by 31 December 2023 to make this festival a reality (and we are more than half way there already!). This festival like all other MEDANZ festivals will be run by volunteers, whilst endeavouring to keep the cost of the festival to a minimum so that as many belly dancers as possible can participate in this event. If you would like to volunteer behind the scenes at the show (stage manager etc) or front of house (ushers), or Hafla co-ordinator/ticket collector etc. please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your details and what you would like to volunteer for.
Every performer whether they are performing solo or as part of a group is required to have purchased a Festival Fundraising Pass (VIP, Day or Single Pass), this includes Festival Tutors.
Fundraising Festival Passes will be available to purchase through until 29 February 2024.
Preference for performance slots will be given to members of the MEDANZ Teachers Network, MEDANZ Subscribers and Festival Tutors, however, you do not need to be a subscriber to MEDANZ to apply or have your item accepted for these Festival events, the only requirement is that you have participated in the Festival Fundraising by purchasing a Festival Fundraising Pass.
If you have already purchased a VIP Festival Pass with a performance slot, please complete this form so that we have all the relevant details about your item, and can allocate it to an event. Your VIP Performance Slot may be used for a solo or a group. If you are using this slot as a group item, please ensure that each of your group members have also purchased a Festival Fundraising Pass (VIP/Day/Single) before the end of February to be eligible to perform.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer any payment for your performance.
A video recording of the show will be made (Hafla TBC). Each item will be made available to the soloist/group leader in digital format for their records. Permission to video and share this performance via our website is a requirement for every participant.

The Committee will advise all successful performers by early to mid February which event their item has been selected to be a part of, to provide sufficient time for all performers to purchase their Fundraising Festival Passes.
Please complete one form per item. You may choose to submit your application for the Show, the Hafla or both.
