with Elea Le Bout
About this workshop
In this 1.5-hour workshop, we’ll explore the richness of Baladi through structure, feeling, and improvisation. Baladi is often translated as “of the country” or “of the people”. In this workshop, you will: - Learn the typical Baladi progression and how the music builds - Explore movements and combinations suited to each section - Work on the different emotions and energy shifts throughout the piece - Practice improvising with guidance on a variety of Baladi songs Ideal for dancers who want to feel more confident improvising and deepen their connection to the music.

Elea Le Bout
Éléa is a dance teacher and a professional dancer for Phoenix Bellydance in Auckland, New Zealand. Éléa is originally from France and has been dancing for most of her life, beginning with four years of ballet before discovering, and falling in love with, belly dance in 2010. She has trained in various studios and attended workshops with renowned instructors from around the world, including Jillina, Aziza of Cairo, Kami Liddle, Diva Darina, Marta Korzun, Sadie, Meher Malik, and others. Committed to growth, Elea continues to refine her technique and explore new styles whenever the opportunity arises. What Elea loves most about dancing is its incredible power to channel emotions through movement, and to share them with the audience. She strongly believes that a great dancer is feeling the music and translating it into movement, rather than having the best technique. Her teaching approach is warm, thorough, and always infused with a sense of fun. Elea takes great joy in supporting her students as they grow and build confidence in their dance journey.
