Festival 2026
Update Festival 2026 - 7 April
By Jeena Monk · 8 April 2026
Hello all,
My goodness time has been zooming past sooooo quickly! We are getting close to the sharp end of organising for Festival 2026...... Apologies for the length of this update, but we have had a few things happen since the last update to you all.
Workshop changes:
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances Candice has had to withdraw from festival. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Candice for her support of Festival 2026, and she will be greatly missed not being able to attend. We are in the process of finding some fantastic tutors/workshops to fill this gap, and will advise as soon as possible.
Tictets:
For those attending and wondering how they will get their tickets, all will be revealed….
All tickets pre-purchased will be in a sealed envelope with the name of the purchasing card on the envelope at the info desk. Please go to the desk before your first class to collect. The info desk is open from Friday night at meet and greet. When you collect your envelope, you will have your name crossed off the master list to show that the tickets have been collected.
There will be an armband issued for each ticket purchased, with the name of the purchaser on it, so if you are purchasing for others to attend events, you will have a physical ticket to hand them in the form of an armband.
We are now down to the nitty gritty of Angel help required….
Class Angel:
We need 1 angel in each class over the weekend to collect the 1 and 2 class bands off attendees that have not bought a 'festival pass' equivalent ticket. We will have simple and clear notes for you to follow.
As we don't have specific class lists, we are unable to allocate a specific person in each class, we ask that you appoint yourself the angel when you arrive at your class for this task.
Info Desk Angel:
Jeena will be manning this desk as much as she can, and we would prefer there to be 2 people manning first thing in the mornings, or if someone sees that one person on the desk is snowed under, please be willing to jump in and help. Any task required for this desk will have clear and simple instructions to follow.
The main task for the weekend, will be handing out pre-purchased festival tickets on the Friday night (meet and greet) and before classes start on Saturday and Sunday morning. All tickets will be in named envelopes with a list of names to be crossed off once collected.
Door Angel:
For both evening events, we will need someone to collect tickets as people come into the venue before the evening starts.
Back stage Angel:
For the Open Stage Night, we will need someone to organise the dancers (goodluck with that mission…) to be in the wings or ready to head on stage. There will be lists up of the order of the dancers, so you wont be flying blind.
Seat Angels:
We have a very, very full programme for our Open Stage night, so will need help to get chairs out, but more importantly away after the evening before we go home.
Classroom set up Angels:
For Sunday, we will have 3 classrooms we are using for the day. We need to move the desks away so we can have our classes, and then back again for the school classes.
Although all the above sounds like a lot of work, as the old adage says, 'many hands make light work'.... If we all work together for just a few mins, we can make this such a successful and fun festival!!
I thank you in advance for all your help and support!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please email Jeena on membership@medanz.org.nz
